Ashley’s reaction, to finding Druitt to be her father, was a lot more believable in the webisode.
I hate that they changed it.
I actually felt emotion, from her, during that scene — I felt sorry for her! :(
Druitt: Ashley, I am not your enemy, not anymore.
HerpAshley: Baldy, you invaded our house - you fed me to a giant iguana, if that's not enough to make you my enemy, then what the hell is?
Druitt: Oh, I was wrong to try to reason with you; you're incapable of seeing the truth.
HerpAshley: What "truth?'
/by this point I want to stab her in her face, just beneath her ugly bangs/
Druitt: That you have no concept of the meaning of your work. You just shoot, maim, and capture whatever Mummy tells you; without a single regard for the consequences of your actions.
HerpDefensiveAshley: That is not true.
/good come back, Herpina/
Druitt: Oh you're a killer, alright. You live for the thrill of the hunt. The exquisite rush of that moment of violence. You find it utterly intoxicating. I know the feeling, very well.
HerpAshleyProvingDruitt'sPoint: I AM NOTHING LIKE YOU /choke Druitt/
Druitt: Oh, you'd like nothing more than to kill me. Ressurect your wounded pride. Get some blood on your hands. The only reason you haven't really tried is because you aren't sure if you can pull it off. We don't have time. We have to go.
/by this point, Druitt's slowed his English down a bit for Herpy-Derp to really understand him; Ashley's starting to make her, God awful, cry face - which, by the way, makes her bangs move frighteningly. She was such a derp! -__-/

I don’t see how the daughter of Helen Magnus and Jack-the-freakin’-Ripper could only evolve into being “the muscle.”
Yeah, yeah, I know “but, Monkey, they were playing on Druitt’s strengths, in Ashley,” but you know what?? That’s dumb!
I would think, with as much as she helped Will, Kate, and Henry “grow up,” Ashley would have gotten the same treatment; at the least, she should have been let down easy about how dumb her bangs looked, in contrast to her ABNORMALLY LARGE teeth.
Also - why did everyone BUT Ashley know Helen’s most personal secrets and stories? I can’t decide if Ashley got robbed of intelligence by Helen’s “neglect,” or if she was really just THAT dumb.
Ashley Magnus was 99% pointless; the 1% of actual character-building was aiding Druitt in finding his Humanity, ironically - her death fueled his “old ways.”
EDITED TO ADD: I’m watching S01E07 (The Five) & I’m starting to think all that cryo made her go stupid.
The scene is a little like this:
Druitt: blahblah amazing history lesson blahblah Your mother’s the greatest thing since Japan.
Ashley:
Druitt: O___O You really don’t get it?
Ashley:
Druitt: /pretty much spells it out for her/
Ashley: Can I, like, go now?
God, what is wrong with this chick!?
Ashley: Those poor things must have been pushed to the limit.
Henry: Hey, listen! I know you're all about saving the whales and everything, but these guys just happen to be a pack of vicious, over-sexed, hyperthyroid, invis-a-rodents!
:(
Druitt: I see you've come to your senses.
Helen: Interesting turn of phrase, all my senses tell me that she's still alive...somewhere...
Druitt: ...stop. Please!
Helen: In the end, what she chose to do, she did as Ashley...not what they turned her into.
Druitt: Yes.
Helen: Please take some solace in that.
Druitt: ...I think not.
Helen: Are you joining us?
Druitt: You may have found closure, but I haven't. Not yet.
Helen: ...John.
Druitt breaking my heart, after Ashley's death. : (
